JEAN-MAURICE BELEKWA

ABOUT JEAN-MAURICE BELEKWA
JEAN-MAURICE BELEKWA is originally from the Democratic of the Congo in Africa, where life lessons are presented to children through folktales. He was initiated into the mongo tribe's culture and traditions in his early childhood by his father. The mongo tribe does not sanction child misconduct or misknowledge by a straight wrong or right answer but rather by using folktales. Hence, children can realize if what they did was right or wrong and learn how to behave themselves concerning the community standards. Therefore, he made it a mission to teach life lessons to children through folktales as one of the most effective ways to conscientize them about what is right or wrong; also about how to treat people in the community regardless of their social conditions.
He has been writing and telling stories since he was a young child. He examined how folktales have created a positive impact on children in Africa. The way folktales were different encouraged him and others to think outside the box. He is privileged to share his work with you and your children.
